WordPress 4.9 – What you need to know

As people who work hours and hours with WordPress, I hate when a new version is out and people start writing really long posts about the new update. That is why we are making a short list of the most important parts of the update.

Big Changes are:

  1. Better personalization –
  2. Shortcodes work in text widgets
  3. Better editor for editing live code – CSS, PHP, HTML, XML, JSON, MD, JS and much more
  4. SWFUpload is fully removed
  5. Save editing of PHP files – if you make an error in the code it will go back to the last “save state”.
  6. MySQL and IPv6 are now friends
  7. Now it works with PHP 7.2

These are the important changes of this version. You can see them here, but at least for me, these are the more important ones.

What is WordPress?

WordPress is an online, open source website creation tool written in PHP. But in non-geek speak, it’s probably the easiest and most powerful blogging and website content management system (or CMS) in existence today.
