Our Standard - We act in your interest, not ours
In finance and law, a fiduciary is someone legally bound to put their client's interests ahead of their own. Most agencies don't operate this way - they optimize for their revenue, not your outcome. We chose a different path.
What is a fiduciary standard?
A fiduciary standard is the highest standard of care in professional services. It means we are ethically and professionally obligated to act in your best interest - even when doing so costs us revenue, reduces our scope, or means recommending a competitor's solution.
This isn't a marketing claim. It's an operational principle that shapes every decision we make: from which tools we recommend, to how we scope projects, to when we say "you don't need this."

Principles - Six commitments that define our standard
These aren't aspirations - they're obligations we hold ourselves to in every engagement, every conversation, and every recommendation.
- Act in your best interest. Every recommendation we make - from which CMS to use, to which hosting tier you need, to whether you should build a feature at all - is driven by what is best for your business. If a free plugin does the job, we won't sell you a custom build.
- Disclose conflicts of interest. If we ever stand to benefit from a recommendation (affiliate programs, partnerships, volume discounts), we tell you upfront. In practice, we avoid these arrangements entirely so our advice stays clean.
- Charge fairly. We don't inflate hours, pad estimates, or create dependency to justify ongoing fees. If a task takes less time than quoted, you pay for what was actually done. If we spot a simpler solution mid-project, we propose it even if it reduces our scope.
- Provide full transparency. You have access to everything: code repositories, server credentials, analytics, DNS records. Nothing is held hostage. You can walk away at any time with everything you've paid for.
- Say no when necessary. If a project doesn't make business sense, if timing is wrong, or if we're not the right fit - we say so. Turning down work that isn't right for the client is part of the fiduciary duty.
- Maintain competence. A fiduciary must be qualified to give the advice they give. We invest continuously in our skills, stay current with platform changes, and are honest when something falls outside our expertise.
The Difference - Typical agency vs. fiduciary standard
The difference shows up in the small decisions that compound over time. Here's what it looks like in practice.
Typical Agency
Fiduciary Standard
Recommends their own platform, even when it's not the best fit
Recommends the platform that best solves your problem, even if it means less work for us
Upsells features and services at every opportunity
Tells you when you don't need something and suggests simpler alternatives
Locks you in with proprietary tools and restricted access
Gives you full ownership and access to everything from day one
Vague invoices with bundled hours and unclear deliverables
Itemized time tracking and clear scope documentation
Keeps critical knowledge to maintain dependency
Documents everything and trains your team to be self-sufficient
Takes any project that pays, regardless of fit
Declines projects where they can't deliver genuine value
In Practice - How the fiduciary standard shapes our work
Principles are only meaningful when they change behavior. Here's how the fiduciary standard shows up across our services.
Hosting & Infrastructure
We'll recommend the smallest server that handles your traffic, not the one with the highest margin. If your site doesn't need a VPS and shared hosting will do, we'll tell you - even though we don't offer shared hosting ourselves.
Development & Projects
Before writing a single line of code, we validate that the project makes business sense. We've talked clients out of rebuilds when a targeted fix would achieve the same goal at a fraction of the cost.
Plugin & Tool Selection
We choose tools based on reliability, long-term maintenance, and fit - not because a vendor offers us a partnership deal. If a free plugin is stable and well-maintained, we pick it over its premium alternative.
Support & Maintenance
We don't create artificial urgency or exaggerate risks to sell support hours. We give you an honest assessment of what your site needs and let you decide how to prioritize.
Why this matters to you as a client
You save money
When your service provider is incentivized to sell you less - not more - your costs naturally stay aligned with actual needs. You don't pay for features you'll never use or infrastructure you don't need.
You make better decisions
When advice is unbiased, you can trust it. You don't need to second-guess every recommendation or wonder if there's a hidden motive. This clarity accelerates decision-making and reduces risk.
You stay in control
Full transparency and data ownership mean you're never locked in. You can verify our work, get a second opinion, or switch providers at any time. This keeps us accountable and keeps you free.
You build trust over time
The best client relationships are long-term ones. When trust is established through consistent, honest behavior - not just good sales skills - the partnership becomes genuinely valuable for both sides.
